Η Ρωσία δημιούργησε ένα νέο είδος Ενόπλων Δυνάμεων- τις Δυνάμεις Αεροδιαστημικής, στις οποίες θα συγχωνευθεί η υπάρχουσα Πολεμική Αεροπορία και τα τμήματά της.
«Όταν ληφθούν όλες οι απαραίτητες αποφάσεις για την κατάρτιση των Δυνάμεων Αεροδιαστημικής , θα ενωθούν με την Πολεμική Αεροπορία, μαζί με την αεράμυνα και τις δομές Πληροφοριών και Μέσων», όπως σημειώνει το ρωσικό Ίντερφαξ, επικαλούμενο την ανακοίνωση του υπουργείου Άμυνας της Ρωσίας.
Έτσι, στις Ένοπλες Δυνάμεις θα υπάρχουν τρεις διοικήσεις: των Χερσαίων Δυνάμεων, του Πολεμικού Ναυτικού και των Δυνάμεων Αεροδιαστημικής.
Οι Δυνάμεις της Αεροδιαστημικής, θα αναπτύξουν διάφορα συστήματα: αναγνώρισης, έγκαιρης προειδοποίησης κινδύνου από αέρα, αντίποινα οποιαδήποτε αντιπάλου στον αέρα και ένα κοινό σύστημα διαχείρισης.
Νωρίτερα σε συνέντευξη Τύπου με τους δημοσιογράφους, ο υφυπουργός Άμυνας της Ρωσικής Ομοσπονδίας, Αρκάντι Μπάχια, ανακοίνωσε ότι η αεροδιαστημική άμυνα της Ρωσίας αποτελεί προτεραιότητα για την εθνική ασφάλεια.
«Αλλάζει ριζικά η φύση της ένοπλης αντιπαράθεσης, αλλά και το όραμα για την ανάπτυξη των ενόπλων δυνάμεων. Η ασφάλεια του εναέριου χώρου είναι τομέας προτεραιότητας και πρέπει να λάβει κεντρική θέση στην παροχή του αμυντικού συστήματος της χώρας», δήλωσε ο αναπληρωτής υπουργός στη συνέντευξη Τύπου, αφιερωμένη στην 100η επέτειο των Δυνάμεων της Αεροπορικής Άμυνας.
