Οκτώ άτομα έχασαν τη ζωή τους από πυροβολισμούς στην κομητεία Λίνκολν του Μισισίπι των ΗΠΑ, ανάμεσα στους οποίους βρίσκεται και ο αναπληρωτής σερίφης της κομητείας. Ο εκπρόσωπος του γραφείου ερευνών του Μισισίπι, ανέφερε ότι ο ένοπλος δράστης επιτέθηκε σε ενοίκους τριών διαφορετικών οικιών. Δύο από αυτές βρίσκονται στο Μπρουκχάβεν και η τρίτη στο Μπογκ Τσίτο. Ένας άνδρας έχει συλληφθεί σε σχέση με το συμβάν.
Πρόκειται για τον 35χρονο Γουίλι Γκόρι Γκόντμπολντ, ο οποίος φέρεται να κράτησε κι έναν 16χρονο όμηρο για κάποια ώρα, σύμφωνα με αναφορές των τοπικών ΜΜΕ. Ο Γκόντμπολντ ήταν γνωστός στις αστυνομικές αρχές, με μακρόχρονη εγκληματική συμπεριφορά.
Ο ίδιος εκπρόσωπος διευκρίνισε ότι αυτή τη στιγμή πραγματοποιείται έρευνα στις τρεις τοποθεσίες, αν και δεν έχουν απαγγελθεί ακόμη κατηγορίες στον ύποπτο.
Δεν είναι ξεκάθαρο το κίνητρο του δράση ή εάν γνώριζε τα θύματά του.
