Το γερμανικό υπουργείο Οικονομίας, απαντώντας σε επερώτηση του βουλευτή του Αριστερού Κόμματος, Σεβίμ Νταγκελέλε, ανέφερε ότι η γερμανική κυβέρνηση ενέκρινε την παροχή στρατιωτικού υλικού στην Τουρκία- παρά την στρατιωτική επιχείρηση της Άγκυρας στη βόρεια Συρία.
Σύμφωνα με το κείμενο, έξι εβδομάδες μετά τις 9 Οκτωβρίου, όταν ξεκίνησε η τουρκική εισβολή, το υπουργικό συμβούλιο έδωσε το πράσινο φως στις εξαγωγές όπλων στην Τουρκία, ύψους 3,09 εκατομμυρίων ευρώ, όπως αναφέρει το ρωσικό ειδησεογραφικό πρακτορείο Tass.
Στις 12 Οκτωβρίου ο Γερμανός υπουργός Εξωτερικών, Χάικο Μάας διαβεβαίωσε ότι οι γερμανικές αρχές «δεν θα εκδώσουν νέες άδειες για τον εξοπλισμό της Τουρκίας, τον οποίο θα μπορούσε να χρησιμοποιήσει στη Συρία».
Η απάντηση της γερμανικής κυβέρνησης σε αυτήν τη δήλωση ήταν ότι «τα στρατιωτικά υλικά που αποστέλλονται στην Τουρκία δεν σχετίζονται με εκείνα που θα μπορούσαν να χρησιμοποιηθούν στη Συρία».
