Επιπλέον 23.000 άνθρωποι έχουν φύγει την τελευταία εβδομάδα από τη Συρία για να γλιτώσουν από τις συγκρούσεις, σύμφωνα με τον απολογισμό της Ύπατης Αρμοστείας του ΟΗΕ για τους Πρόσφυγες (UNHCR).
Οι αριθμοί αυξήθηκαν δραματικά, κυρίως στην Τουρκία, καθώς οι Σύροι φεύγουν για να σωθούν από το Χαλέπι, όπου μαίνονται συγκρούσεις μεταξύ του τακτικού στρατού και των εξεγερμένων, επεσήμανε η UNHCR.
Συνολικά 170.000 σύροι πρόσφυγες έχουν καταμετρηθεί στις γειτονικές χώρες: 61.000 στην Τουρκία, 47.000 στην Ιορδανία, ισάριθμοι στον Λίβανο και 15.000 στο Ιράκ.
Εξάλλου Τούρκος διπλωμάτης δήλωσε σήμερα στο Γαλλικό Πρακτορείο ότι περισσότεροι από 2.000 Σύροι, μεταξύ αυτών και ένας στρατηγός, ζήτησαν καταφύγιο στην Τουρκία έπειτα από τον αεροπορικό βομβαρδισμό από τις κυβερνητικές δυνάμεις του προπυργίου των εξεγερμένων Άζαζ, στη βόρεια Συρία.
