Ο ανώτατος στρατιωτικός διοικητής του ΝΑΤΟ στην Ευρώπη (SACEUR), πτέραρχος Philip Breedlove, δήλωσε σήμερα πως η Ρωσία έχει αναπτύξει μια πολύ μεγάλη δύναμη στα ανατολικά σύνορα της Ουκρανίας, εκφράζοντας σχετικά την ανησυχία του, αλλά δειχνοντας ταυτόχρονα ότι το ΝΑΤΟ είναι ανήμπορο να το εμποδίσει .
Δήλωσε μάλιστα ότι η δύναμη αυτή μπορεί να αποτελέσει “απειλή” για την Υπερδνειστερία, την αυτόνομη περιοχή της Μολδαβίας, που έχει ζητήσει επισήμως ένωση με τη Ρωσία.
“Η (ρωσική) δύναμη που βρίσκεται τώρα στα ανατολικά ουκρανικά σύνορα είναι πολύ, πολύ μεγάλη και πολύ, πολύ έτοιμη” δήλωσε ο Αμερικανός πτέραρχος Philip Breedlove, ανώτατος συμμαχικός διοικητής του ΝΑΤΟ στην Ευρώπη, στη διάρκεια εκδήλωσης της δεξαμενής σκέψης German Marshall Fund.
Ο ίδιος δήλωσε πως το ΝΑΤΟ ανησυχεί πολύ σχετικά με την απειλή για την Υπερδνειστερία.
“Υπάρχει απολύτως επαρκής (ρωσική) δύναμη έτοιμη στα ανατολικά σύνορα της Ουκρανίας για να σπεύσει στην Υπερδνειστερία, αν ληφθεί απόφαση να γίνει κάτι τέτοιο, και αυτό είναι πολύ ανησυχητικό” δήλωσε.
“Η Ρωσία ενεργεί πολύ περισσότερο σαν αντίπαλος παρά σαν εταίρος” πρόσθεσε ο ανώτατος διοικητής του ΝΑΤΟ.
