Η ύπατη εκπρόσωπος του ΟΗΕ για τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα Νάβι Πιλάι κατήγγειλε σήμερα την βαρβαρότητα της καταστολής των εξεγέρσεων στη Συρία και τη Λιβύη, χαρακτηρίζοντάς την “σοκαριστική”. “Η βαρβαρότητα και η έκταση των μέτρων που ελήφθησαν από τις κυβερνήσεις της Λιβύης και τώρα της Συρίας ήταν ιδιαίτερα σοκαριστικές, μέσα στην απόλυτη περιφρόνηση των θεμελιωδών ατομικών δικαιωμάτων”, δήλωσε η Νάβι Πιλάι ενώπιον των εκπροσώπων των 47 χωρών μελών του Συμβουλίου Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων κατά την έναρξη της 17ης συνόδου του.
Η ύπατη εκπρόσωπος του ΟΗΕ κάλεσε και πάλι τη Δαμασκό να επιτρέψει την είσοδο στο συριακό έδαφος αποστολής του ΟΗΕ που θα είναι επιφορτισμένη με την έρευνα των παραβιάσεων των ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων. Η διεξαγωγή της έρευνας ζητήθηκε από τις 29 Απριλίου κατά τη διάρκεια έκτακτης συνεδρίασης για τη Συρία.
