Εδώ και κάποια χρόνια είναι γεγονός ότι ο όρκος του Ιπποκράτη έχει
καταργηθεί από τις τελετές ορκωμοσίας σε κάποιες ιατρικές σχολές του
εξωτερικού. Αυτό που δεν ξέρουν πολλοί σήμερα είναι πως όλοι οι γιατροί
του κόσμου όταν αποφοιτήσουν δεν δίνουν όλοι τον όρκο του Ιπποκράτη, και
σε ορισμένες χώρες χρησιμοποιείται αλλά σαν ένα εθιμοτυπικό κατάλοιπο. Και για όσους νομίζουν ότι στην ιατρική σχολή Αθηνών σήμερα οι
μέλλοντες γιατροί ξεκινούν την καριέρα τους δίνοντας τον πραγματικό όρκο
του Ιπποκράτη (δες παρακάτω) θα απογοητευθούν. Ο όρκος που δίνουν οι
πτυχιούχοι της Ιατρικής Σχολής Αθηνών του Εθνικού Καποδιστριακού
