Την πόλη Βαλπαραΐσο της Χιλης απειλεί η τεράστια πυρκαγιά που μαίνεται εκτός ελέγχου σε δασική περιοχή στα κεντρικά της χώρας, αναφέρεται σε ανακοίνωση που εξέδωσε η ONEMI, η υπηρεσία εκτάκτων αναγκών.
Σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση, τουλάχιστον 4.500 κάτοικοι εκκένωσαν τις κατοικίες τους, προληπτικά, στη Βαλπαραΐσο και τη γειτονική πόλη Βίνα ντελ Μαρ, ενώ και οι δύο περιοχές έχουν κηρυχθεί σε κατάσταση έκτακτης ανάγκης.
Η τεράστια πυρκαγιά εξαπλώνεται με ταχείς ρυθμούς, ενώ στους 16.000 ενδέχεται να αυξηθεί ο αριθμός των κατοίκων που θα αναγκαστούν να εγκαταλείψουν τα σπίτια τους.
Οι δασικές περιοχές αυτή την εποχή στη Χιλή αποτελούν συχνό φαινόμενο και ιδιαίτερα φέτος μετά από ένα ζεστό και ξηρό καλοκαίρι.
Το 2014, πυρκαγιά που είχε ξεσπάσει πάλι στην πόλη Βαλπαραΐσο είχε ως αποτέλεσμα να χάσουν τη ζωή τους 13 άνθρωποι και τουλάχιστον 2.000 κατοικίες να παραδοθούν ολοσχερώς στις φλόγες.
