«Η Nestle και η Mead Johnson Nutrition απέρριψαν πρόσφατα τις κλήσεις για την απομάκρυνση των γενετικά τροποποιημένων οργανισμών (ΓΤΟ) από τα βρεφικά προϊόντα τους στις ΗΠΑ, και τώρα έρχονται στην επιφάνεια αποδεικτικά στοιχεία για μακροπρόθεσμους κινδύνους που σχετίζονται με τα σκευάσματα για βρέφη.
Η επιδημιολογική έρευνα έδειξε μια σχέση μεταξύ διατροφής βρεφών και αυξημένο κίνδυνο χρόνιων ασθενειών αργότερα στη ζωή τους, όπως η παχυσαρκία, ο διαβήτης τύπου 2 και τα καρδιαγγειακά νοσήματα.
Οι ερευνητές δήλωσαν ότι η συνολικές μεταβολικές επιπτώσεις εναντίον του θηλασμού παίζουν μακροπρόθεσμο ρόλο σε κινδύνους για την υγεία. ”
