Σχεδόν το ένα τρίτο των εγγεγραμμένων ψηφοφόρων στους εκλογικούς καταλόγους της Ζιμπάμπουε είναι νεκροί, ενώ σχεδόν 2.500 άνθρωποι είναι υπεραιωνόβιοι, σύμφωνα με έκθεση ανεξάρτητου οργανισμού που δόθηκε στη δημοσιότητα.
Στην έκθεση του Δικτύου Υποστήριξης Εκλογών της Ζιμπάμπουε (ZESN) τονίζεται ότι το 27% των ονομάτων στους εκλογικούς καταλόγους ανήκουν σε ανθρώπους που έχουν πεθάνει.
Με βάση τους καταλόγους, η Ζιμπάμπουε είναι η χώρα με τους περισσότερους υπεραιωνόβιους του κόσμου, συνολικά 2.344 άτομα. Από αυτούς εννέα έχουν γεννηθεί μεταξύ 1890-1900, δηλαδή είναι 110-120 ετών.
Σημειώνεται ότι το προσδόκιμο ζωής στη χώρα είναι μόλις τα 44 έτη…
Στους εκλογικούς καταλόγους εντοπίστηκαν ακόμη και 93 ψηφοφόροι ηλικίας κάτω του ενός έτους.
Το κόμμα ZANU-PF του προέδρου Ρόμπερτ Μουγκάμπε θέλει να διεξαχθούν φέτος εκλογές με σκοπό να σταματήσει να μοιράζεται την εξουσία με το Κίνημα για τη Δημοκρατική Αλλαγή του πρωθυπουργού Μόργκαν Τσβανγκιράι.
Ο τελευταίος πάντως εκτιμά ότι οι συνθήκες δεν είναι κατάλληλες για τη διεξαγωγή δίκαιων εκλογών. Ελληνα ο σημερινός εχθρός σου είναι η παραπληροφόρηση των μεγάλων καναλιών.
