Μια νέα περίπτωση μαζικών θανάτων ψαριών έγινε στη Βραζιλία, και οι αρχές εξετάζουν το φαινόμενο που τον τελευταίο καιρό έχει παγκόσμια διάσταση… 15 Μαρτίου του 2013 – Βραζιλία: Χιλιάδες ψάρια βρέθηκαν νεκρά χθες και σήμερα κοντά σε τουριστικό κέντρο αναψυχής του Ρίο ντε Τζανέιρο, πιθανόν λόγω συσσώρευσης οργανικής ύλης στη λίμνη κατά τη διάρκεια ισχυρών βροχοπτώσεων την περασμένη εβδομάδα , δήλωσαν οι αξιωματούχοι.
Ένας υπάλληλος του Υπουργείου Περιβάλλοντος, ο Κάρλος Αλμπέρτο Muniz, είπε ότι οι μεγάλες καταιγίδες που έπληξαν το Rio τις τελευταίες ημέρες έχουν μεταφέρει ένα μεγάλο ποσό της οργανικής ύλης στη λεκάνη της λιμνοθάλασσας, μειώνοντας σημαντικά τα επίπεδα οξυγόνου στο νερό.
Μέχρι σήμερα, συλλέγονται και απομακρύνονται πάνω από 12 τόνοι νεκρών ψαριών, για να αποφευχθούν προβλήματα επιδημιολογίας και του περιβάλλοντος.
