Ένα φέρι όπου επέβαιναν 209 άνθρωποι βυθίστηκε ανοιχτά της Μιανμάρ εν μέσω κακοκαιρίας με αποτέλεσμα να χάσουν την ζωή τους τουλάχιστον 21 άνθρωποι ενώ 26 άνθρωποι αγνοούνται, ανακοίνωσε σήμερα η αστυνομία.
«Έχουμε καταμετρήσει 21 νεκρούς, 2 άνδρες και 19 γυναίκες. Είκοσι έξι επιβάτες αγνοούνται» μετά το ναυάγιο που συνέβη χθες το βράδυ στα ανοιχτά των δυτικών ακτών της Μιανμάρ, δήλωσε ένας αξιωματικός της αστυνομίας στο Γαλλικό Πρακτορείο.
Μέχρι στιγμής, 167 επιβαίνοντες έχουν διασωθεί από σκάφη του λιμενικού και άλλα παραπλέοντα σκάφη.
Το πορθμείο Aung Takon, που ήταν υπερφορτωμένο, πραγματοποιούσε το δρομολόγιο μεταξύ Ταουνγκόκ και Σίτουε στη δυτική Μιανμάρ όταν βυθίστηκε χθες το βράδυ.
Ξένοι τουρίστες δεν επέβαιναν στο πλοίο, σύμφωνα με τις αρχές.
