Μια ισχυρή σεισμική δόνηση , έβγαλε τους πάντες από τα σπίτια τους… στην περιοχή της ανατολικής Κολομβίας και έγινε αισθητή μέχρι και την πρωτεύουσα Μπογκοτά, όπου πολλοί κάτοικοι βγήκαν έντρομοι στους δρόμους.Μέχρι στιγμής δεν έχουν αναφερθεί ζημιές ή τραυματισμοί.
Ο σεισμός ήταν μεγέθους 6,6 βαθμών, σύμφωνα με την Γεωλογική Υπηρεσία της Κολομβίας. Η Γεωλογική Υπηρεσία των ΗΠΑ (USGS) ανακοίνωσε ότι το μέγεθος της δόνησης ήταν 6,2 βαθμοί. Το επίκεντρό της εντοπίστηκε κοντά στην πόλη Μπουκαραμάνγκα, σε απόσταση περίπου 272 χιλιομέτρων βορειοανατολικά της Μπογκοτά. Ωστόσο, λόγω του μεγάλου εστιακού βάθους του σεισμού ήταν πολύ μεγάλο, 147 χιλιόμετρα, εκφράζονται ελπίδες ότι οι τυχόν ζημιές θα είναι περιορισμένες, όπως αναφέρουν ξένα ειδησιογραφικά μέσα…
Τοπικοί ραδιοφωνικοί σταθμοί μετέδωσαν ότι η δόνηση έγινε πολύ αισθητή στο Μεντεγίν αλλά και σε πόλεις της Βενεζουέλας, όπως το Μαρακαΐμπο και το Σαν Κριστόμπαλ, που βρίσκονται κοντά στα σύνορα.Αμέσως μετά τον σεισμό τα δίκτυα της κινητής τηλεφωνίας στην περιοχή σταμάτησαν να λειτουργούν.
