Η ιστορία εν συντομία έχει ως εξής:
Στις 19 Φεβρουαρίου του 1971 ένα γυναικείο πτώμα ανασύρεται στο νότιο άκρο της λίμνης Πανασόφκι, στην κεντρική Φλόριντα.
Η
άγνωστη βρέθηκε δολοφονημένη με μία ανδρική ζώνη τυλιγμένη στο λαιμό
της. Δεν πρέπει να έπεσε θύμα ληστείας γιατί στο αριστερό της χέρι
φορούσε ένα ρολόι μάρκας Μπέιλορ, ένα χρυσό δαχτυλίδι με πέτρα, και ένα
χρυσό λεπτό κολιέ. Μετά από άκαρπες έρευνες την έθαψαν με τον κωδικό
«Τζέιν Ντο».
Το 1986 την ξέθαψαν για περαιτέρω έρευνα καθώς στις ΗΠΑ δεν υπάρχει παραγραφή του αδικήματος αν δεν βρεθεί ο ένοχος.
Ο γεωχημικός του Πανεπιστημίου της Φλόριδα Τζορτζ Κάμενοβ, που εφαρμόζει την μέθοδο της ισοτοπικής ανάλυσης έφερε στο φως συγκλονιστικά στοιχεία.
