Τον κίνδυνο για ένα επερχόμενο μεγάλο γεγονός σχεδόν ίδιου επιπέδου με αυτό της 11ης Σεπτεμβρίου του 2001 επισήμανε ο αντιπτέραρχος ε.α. Thomas G. McInerney μιλώντας στο αμερικανικό δίκτυο FOX News. Ο McInerney με αρκετά αινιγματικό ύφος μίλησε αρχικά για κάποιο βιβλίο το οποίο πρόκειται να κυκλοφορήσει το Σεπτέμβριο λέγοντας:
«Στις 7 Σεπτεμβρίου ένα μεγάλο δίκτυο ενημέρωσης και ένας εξίσου μεγάλος εκδοτικός οίκος πρόκειται να εκδώσουν ένα βιβλίο και το γεγονός αυτό πρόκειται να προκαλέσει πραγματικό σεισμό για ότι έχει συμβεί και ότι συμβαίνει. Το θέμα είναι ότι μπορούμε να δούμε μια νέα 9/11 του 2014 αυτή τη φορά και μια υπόθεση ΜΗ 370 (το αεροσκάφος των Μαλαισιανών Αερογραμμών που έχει εξαφανιστεί) να έρχονται πάλι στο φως της δημοσιότητας» για να προσθέσει:
«Πρέπει να είμαστε έτοιμοι για το οτιδήποτε. Πρέπει να είμαστε σε ετοιμότητα να πάμε σε DEFCON 1 το ύψιστο επίπεδο ετοιμότητας των αμερικανικών ενόπλων δυνάμεων και να είμαστε έτοιμοι για αυτό καθώς οδεύουμε προς την 11η Σεπτεμβρίου».
Όταν η παρουσιάστρια θέλησε να ζητήσει περισσότερες διευκρινίσεις για τις αινιγματικές δηλώσεις του πτεράρχου ο ίδιος δεν έδωσε περισσότερες λεπτομέρειες παρά λέγοντας μόνο πως τώρα οι ΗΠΑ είναι λιγότερο ασφαλείας από ότι ήταν 6 χρόνια πριν.
