Ο Κώστας Παπαζάχος επανέλαβε ότι οι αρμόδιες Επιτροπές εξακολουθούν να παρατηρούν τη σεισμική ακολουθία στα νησιά των νοτιοανατολικών Κυκλάδων, ενώ, απάντησε και στο ερώτημα εάν συνδέεται η ηφαιστειακή δραστηριότητα.
Οκαθηγητής Φυσικής Λιθόσφαιρας, Σεισμολογίας και Εφαρμοσμένης Γεωφυσικής στο Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης και εκπρόσωπος της Επιτροπής των ειδικών που μελετούν τα φαινόμενα στις νοτιοανατολικές Κυκλάδες, Κώστας Παπαζάχος, εκτίμησε απόψε (16/02) ότι παραμένει πιθανό το σενάριο να υπάρξει ισχυρότερος σεισμός, μιλώντας στο OPEN.
Οι σεισμικές δονήσεις στη θαλάσσια περιοχή της Ανύδρου, ανάμεσα σε Σαντορίνη και Αμοργό, είναι αλλεπάλληλες. Την τελευταία ώρα, σημειώθηκαν ακόμη τέσσερις, μεγέθους 2.3, 2.4, 2.7 και 3.3 της κλίμακας Ρίχτερ, σύμφωνα με το Γεωδυναμικό Ινστιτούτο.
«Αυτές οι σεισμικές ακολουθίες έχουν παροδικές υφέσεις και εξάρσεις, αλλά ελπίζουμε ότι αυτή η ύφεση που παρατηρείται τις τελευταίες ώρες, θα είναι μόνιμη. Παρακολουθούμε τη Σαντορίνη και την παραμόρφωση του εδάφους από δορυφόρους, συστήματα υψηλής ακρίβειας GNSS και όταν δούμε ότι τα μεγέθη ηρεμούν, θα είμαστε πιο ήσυχοι αναφορικά με την επόμενη μέρα στο νησί», επεσήμανε ο κ. Παπαζάχος.
Στο ερώτημα εάν συνδέεται η ηφαιστειακή δραστηριότητα, ο καθηγητής απάντησε ότι «ούτε το ηφαίστειο του Κολόμπου ούτε αυτό της Σαντορίνης δεν έχουν ηφαιστειακή δραστηριότητα αυτήν τη στιγμή. Δεν βγαίνει λάβα», εξηγώντας παράλληλα την κίνηση του μάγματος που τροφοδοτεί εν δυνάμει τα ηφαίστεια.
Οι κάτοικοι της Σαντορίνης επιστρέφουν σταδιακά στο νησί
Κάποιοι κάτοικοι αναχωρούν από τη Σαντορίνη ακόμη και σήμερα, ωστόσο, πολλοί άλλοι που είχαν φύγει νωρίτερα, επιστρέφουν προκειμένου να συνεχίσουν τις ζωές τους, σε αυτή τη νέα αυτή κανονικότητα.
