Tην παραίτηση του από την Επιτροπή Φαρμακοεπαγρύπνησης του ΕΟΦ, η οποία οφείλεται στους εγκληματικούς χειρισμούς της κυβέρνησης στην υπόθεση του εμβολίου της AstraZeneca, υπέβαλε ο καθηγητής Παθολογίας-Ανοσολογίας, Παναγιώτης Γ. Βλαχογιαννόπουλος.
Με επιστολή του στον Υπουργό Υγείας, Βασίλη Κικίλια, ζήτησε την αντικατάστασή του από την Επιτροπή Φαρμακοεπαγρύπνησης του Εθνικού Οργανισμού Φαρμάκων (Ε.Ο.Φ.) διότι θεωρεί ότι τα αξιακά του πρότυπα δε συνάδουν με αυτά της Ε.ΦΑ.Ρ.
Ο κ. Βλαχογιανόπουλος τόνισε πως τάσσεται υπέρ των εμβολίων κορωνοϊού και θεωρεί «σπάνια τα περιστατικά θρομβώσεων με το εμβόλιο της A-Z αλλά και με το εμβόλιο της Pfizer»
Εξηγώντας τους λόγους, ανέφερε την έλλειψη θάρρους από πλευράς Επιτροπής να αναδείξει πιθανά προβλήματα των εμβολίων και είχε γνωματεύσει πάντοτε αρνητικά για την συσχέτιση ποικίλλων φαινομένων θρομβώσεων με το εν λόγω εμβόλιο.
Σύμφωνα με τον ίδιο μετά την εμφάνιση θρομβώσεων που αναφερόταν μέσω κίτρινης κάρτας, η Επιτροπή αναζητούσε όλους τους παραδοσιακούς παράγοντες κινδύνου για θρόμβωση και τους απέδιδε σε αυτούς. Έτσι, αγνοούσε τη χρονική συνάφεια του γεγονότος με τη λήψη του εμβολίου.
«Αν δεν υπήρχαν εμφανείς παραδοσιακοί παράγοντες κινδύνου για θρόμβωση η Επιτροπή συνήθιζε να αναβάλλει μια τελεσίδικη απόφαση με το αιτιολογικό ότι η περίπτωση μελετάται» συμπλήρωσε χαρακτηριστικά.
