Το σκάφος έχει βυθιστεί λέει το Λιμενικό – Οι πρωτες πληροφορίες μιλούσαν για 700 ανθρώπους – Έχουν διασωθεί περίπου 250 άτομα – Πέντε παραπλέοντα σκάφη έχουν αναπτύξει σωσίβιες λέμβουςΜεγάλη επιχείρηση διάσωσης εκατοντάδων μεταναστών βρίσκεται σε εξέλιξη στη θαλάσσια περιοχή, ανοιχτά των Καλών Λιμενών, στην Κρήτη. Σύμφωνα με τον εκπρόσωπο του λιμενικού Νίκο Λαγκαδιανό το σκάφος μήκους 25 μέτρων έχει ήδη βουλιάξει.
Όπως είπε στο σημείο βρίσκονται πέντε παραπλέοντα σκάφη που έχουν αναπτύξει σωσίβιες λέμβους και ήδη εχουν διασωθεί περίπου 250 άνθρωποι. Κατά τον κ. Λαγκαδιανό ο αριθμός των επιβαινόντων στο σκάφος δεν είναι πολύ μεγαλύτερος αν και οι πρώτες πληροφορίες μιλούσαν για περίπου 700 μετανάστες.
Η περιοχή που αναφέρεται ότι έχει συμβεί το ναυάγιο απέχει περίπου 70 ναυτικά μίλια νότια της Κρήτης και βρίσκεται εντός του FIR Αιγύπτου η οποία έχει τον έλεγχο τη επιχείρησης έρευνας και διάσωσης. Από ελληνικής πλευράς έχει σημάνει συναγερμός στο Ενιαίο Κέντρο Συντονισμού Έρευνας και Διάσωσης προκειμένου να κινητοποιηθούν όσα μέσα είναι δυνατόν και να προσφερθεί αρωγή σε όσους κινδυνεύουν νότια της Κρήτης.
Στο σημείο σπεύδουν και σκάφη του λιμενικού σώματος ενώ τις έρευνες συνδράμουν ένα αεροσκάφος του λιμενικού σώματος και ένα super puma της πολεμικής αεροπορίας.
