Μεγάλες καταστροφές προκλήθηκαν στην Μεγαλόπολη, η οποία κηρύσσεται σε κατάσταση έκταλτης ανάγκης, από την κακοκαιρία που έπληξε την περιοχή το βράδυ του Σαββάτου.
Το βράδυ του Σαββάτου πραγματοποιήθηκε σύσκεψη του περιφερειάρχη Πελοποννήσου Πέτρου Τατούλη, του αντιπεριφερειάρχη Αρκαδίας Βαγγέλη Γιαννακούρα, του περιφερειάρχη Πυροσβεστικών Υπηρεσιών Πελοποννήσου, αρχιπύραρχου Χαράλαμπου Χιόνη, του δημάρχου Μεγαλόπολης Διονύση Παπαδόπουλου και υπηρεσιακών παραγόντων, κατά την οποία αποφασίστηε να κηρυχθεί ο δήμος σε κατάστασης έκτακτης ανάγκης. Όλες οι διαδικασίες θα κινηθούν τη Δευτέρα.
Παράλληλα σε επιφυλακή βρίσκονται στο ενεργειακό κέντρο της ΔΕΗ στη Μεγαλόπολη, γιατί τα νερά στην γέφυρα της Μπαρμπουτσάνας έχουν περάσει από πάνω και απειλείται το ορυχείο της Θωκνίας. Υπήρξε διακοπή παροχής ρεύματος σε όλη την περιοχή και αποκαθίσταται σταδιακά, ενώ για αρκετή ώρα δεν υπήρχε και δυνατότητα επικοινωνίας με κινητά τηλέφωνα.
