Την εξομολόγηση έκανε ο ίδιος ο πολιτικος αρχηγος σε στενούς συνεργάτες κατα τη διάρκεια σύσκεψης για το πολιτικο τους μέλλον:
Μίλησα ο ίδιος το καλοκαίρι μακρυά απο τα φώτα της δημοσιότητας με τον «Σατανα» της πολιτικής, τον Κωστα Σημίτη. Συναντηθήκαμε δυο φορές, μια σε κότερο έξω απο την Τήνο και μια την επόμενη μέρα στην Μυκονο οπου έκανε διακοπές. Συμφωνήσαμε να με στηρίξει και θα το κανει.
Αφωνοι έμειναν οι συνεργάτες του με την αποκάλυψη αυτή, οχι γιατί δεν ήξεραν οτι ο αρχηγος τους εχει επαφές με το ΠΑΣΟΚ του Σημίτη αλλα γιατί είχε συμφωνήσει μήνες τωρα με καθε μυστικότητα μαζί του ώστε να αποφύγει και τις εσωκομματικές τρικλοποδιές.
