Από έναν εκκωφαντικό θόρυβο αναστατώθηκε το κέντρο της Καλαμάτας λίγο μετά της 4 τα σήμερα τα ξημερώματα.
Αυτοσχέδιος εκρηκτικός μηχανισμός με χρήση πυροσωλήνα, που είχε τοποθετηθεί στον περιβάλλοντα χώρο της Τράπεζας της Ελλάδος εξερράγη και προκάλεσε υλικές ζημιές κυρίως στο απέναντι κτίριο της Εθνικής Τράπεζας και στην είσοδο της απέναντι πολυκατοικίας.
Αστυνομικοί έχουν από τις πρώτες στιγμές αποκλείσει την κυκλοφορία των οχημάτων στην οδό Νικηταρά, όπου έγινε η έκρηξη, ενώ εδώ και κάποια ώρα έχει επιτραπεί με προσοχή η διέλευση πεζών από το σημείο.
Πριν τις 11 αναμένεται να φθάσουν στην Καλαμάτα πυροτεχνουργοί της Ασφάλειας Τρίπολης για να διερευνήσουν περαιτέρω την υπόθεση και να την αξιολογήσουν. Προς το παρόν πάντως τα στοιχεία δεν απαιτούν έρευνα από την Αντιτρομοκρατική.
