Ο Διεθνής Οργανισμός Μετανάστευσης (ΔΟΜ) με ανακοίνωσή του εκφράζει την ανησυχία του για τα βίαια περιστατικά που έλαβαν χώρα στην περιοχή των Βρασνών στη Βόρεια Ελλάδα, όπου μερίδα του τοπικού πληθυσμού αντέδρασε στην μεταφορά ευάλωτων μεταναστών, από το νησί της Σάμου σε δομές προσωρινής φιλοξενίας στην περιοχή.
«Στη διάρκεια των τελευταίων ετών μέχρι και σήμερα, η στάση που έχει επιδείξει η Ελλάδα απέναντι στους μετανάστες έχει υπάρξει αξιοσημείωτη. Καθημερινά γινόμαστε μάρτυρες παραδειγμάτων ειλικρινούς αλληλεγγύης και σεβασμού προς τους πληθυσμούς προσφύγων και μεταναστών, τόσο από την ελληνική κοινωνία συνολικά όσο και από τοπικές κοινότητες», αναφέρεται χαρακτηριστικά.
Ο ΔΟΜ αξιολογεί τα χθεσινοβραδινά γεγονότα ως μεμονωμένα περιστατικά και καλεί το σύνολο των κυβερνητικών και των μη κυβερνητικών φορέων να συνεργαστούν, ώστε να αποτραπούν παρόμοια περιστατικά στο μέλλον.
