Eντοπίστηκε χωρίς τις αισθήσεις του στα ανοιχτά της παραλίας Ριζομύλου-Νικολαιίκων
Θλίψη προκαλεί στο Αίγιο ο αδόκητος θάνατος του 73χρονου γνωστού γιατρού-πνευμονολόγου Θανάση Σταυρόπουλου, ο οποίος εντοπίστηκε χωρίς τις αισθήσεις του στα ανοιχτά της παραλίας Ριζομύλου-Νικολαιίκων.
Για τη διάσωσή του έσπευσαν σκάφη του Λιμενικού Σώματος και ιδιωτικά σκάφη που βρίσκονταν στην περιοχή, πλην όμως ήταν αργά για τον ιδιαίτερα αγαπητό συμπολίτη γιατρό, ο όποιος μεταφέρθηκε ακολούθως με ασθενοφόρο του ΕΚΑΒ στο Νοσοκομείο Αιγίου, όπου διαπιστώθηκε ο θάνατός του.
Ο Θανάσης Σταυρόπουλος, γιος του αείμνηστου παπά-Διονύση από την Κουνινά, σπούδασε γιατρός στην Ιταλία και άσκησε επί σειρά ετών το λειτούργημα του στο Αίγιο, με αφοσίωση και αγάπη προς τον συνάνθρωπο. Το 2010 εξελέγη δημοτικός σύμβουλος με τον τότε δήμαρχο Αιγιαλείας Στάθη Θεοδωρακόπουλο και διετέλεσε αντιδήμαρχος Υγείας και Πρόνοιας. Πάντοτε χαμογελαστός και κεφάτος, με το χαρακτηριστικό του πηγαίο και βροντερό γέλιο, είχε μόνο φίλους και ο χαμός του έχει προκαλέσει σοκ στην τοπική κοινωνία.
