Έκθεση του ΟΗΕ, καταδεικνύει ότι ακόμα και φτωχά κράτη, μπορούν να συμβάλλουν στην παγκόσμια ανάπτυξη, η οποία δεν είναι απαραίτητα ανάλογη μιας σταθερής εξέλιξης στην οικονομία. Η πλειοψηφία των αναπτυσσόμενων χωρών, έχουν σημειώσει τεράστια πρόοδο στον τομέα της υγείας και της εκπαίδευσης τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες, παρά το γεγονός ότι σοβαρές ελλείψεις εξακολουθούν να υπάρχουν, σύμφωνα με την έκθεση, η οποία δόθηκε στη δημοσιότητα την Πέμπτη 04/11.
Η έκθεση για την ανθρώπινη ανάπτυξη, εξετάζει την πρόοδο στην υγεία, την εκπαίδευση και τους δείκτες του εισοδήματος και σύμφωνα με την πιο πρόσφατη, οι άνθρωποι σήμερα είναι γενικά πιο υγιείς, πιο ευκατάστατοι και επαρκέστερα εκπαιδευμένοι σε σχέση με το 1970.
Αυτή η εξέλιξη, δεν είναι απαραίτητα συνδεδεμένη με τη βελτίωση της παγκόσμιας οικονομίας, γεγονός που αποδεικνύει ότι μακροπρόθεσμα οφέλη είναι δυνατόν να υπάρξουν παρά την κρίση στις παγκόσμιες οικονομίες.
”Η ανθρώπινη εξέλιξη διαφέρει από την οικονομική ανάπτυξη και σημαντικά επιτεύγματα είναι δυνατόν να πραγματοποιηθούν ακόμα και σε περιόδους κρίσης.” σημείωσε η κύρια συντάκτης της έκθεσης, Jeni Klugman.
Το προσδοκώμενο όριο ζωής, έχει αυξηθεί από 59 έτη που ήταν το 1970 σε 70 το 2010, σύμφωνα με την αναφορά.
Ανάμεσα στις δέκα πρώτες χώρες που έχουν πετύχει σημαντική εξέλιξη είναι το Ομάν, το Νεπάλ, και το Λάος, ενώ η Αιθιοπία, η Καμπότζη και το Μπενίν δεν έχουν σημειώσει μεγάλη εξέλιξη.
