Οι αντικαθεστωτικοί δηλώνουν ότι δεν βρήκαν καμία αντίσταση κατά τη διάρκεια της πορείας τους προς την Τρίπολη.
Εκατοντάδες κόσμου βρίσκονται στο κέντρο της πόλης και στα περίχωρα και πανηγυρίζουν, όπως λένε, την πτώση του καθεστώτος. Σύμφωνα με το Sky News, οι αντικαθεστωτικοί απαντούν με εορταστικά πυρά στον αέρα.
Λίγο αργότερα ο επικεφαλής του Μεταβατικού Εθνικού Συμβουλίου (το πολιτικό όργανο των αντικαθεστωτικών) δήλωσε στο Αλ Τζαζίρα ότι συνελήφθη ο γιος του Λίβυου ηγέτη Σαΐφ Αλ Ισλάμ, ενώ κατά άλλες πληροφορίες, στα χέρια των αντικαθεστωτικών έπεσε και έτερος γιος του Λίβου ηγέτη, Αλ Σαάντι.
