Ένα ελικόπτερο συνετρίβη στο όρος Κιλιμάντζαρο της Τανζανίας, με αποτέλεσμα να σκοτωθούν πέντε άτομα, όπως ανακοίνωσε την Πέμπτη η Υπηρεσία Πολιτικής Αεροπορίας, ενώ τα τοπικά μέσα ενημέρωσης ανέφεραν ότι το ελικόπτερο πραγματοποιούσε αποστολή ιατρικής διάσωσης.
Το ελικόπτερο συνετρίβη κοντά στο στρατόπεδο Μπαράφου την Τετάρτη, σύμφωνα με ανακοίνωση της Υπηρεσίας Πολιτικής Αεροπορίας της Τανζανίας.
Η εφημερίδα Mwananchi και το κανάλι East Africa TV, επικαλούμενα τον αρχηγό της αστυνομίας της περιοχής Κιλιμάντζαρο, Σάιμον Μάιγκουα, ανέφεραν ότι το ελικόπτερο συμμετείχε σε ιατρική αποστολή διάσωσης, όπως μεταδίδει το Reuters.
Μεταξύ των νεκρών ήταν ένας οδηγός, ένας γιατρός, ο πιλότος και δύο ξένοι τουρίστες, ανέφερε η Mwananchi, χωρίς να δώσει περισσότερες πληροφορίες για την ιθαγένεια των τουριστών.
Το όρος Κιλιμάντζαρο, η ψηλότερη κορυφή της Αφρικής, φτάνει σχεδόν τα 6.000 μέτρα (20.000 πόδια) πάνω από την επιφάνεια της θάλασσας. Η συντριβή σημειώθηκε σε υψόμετρο μεταξύ 4.670 και 4.700 μέτρων, ανέφερε η Mwananchi.
