Ο οδηγός του λεωφορείου οδηγούσε μεθυσμένος και είχε αναπτύξει υπερβολική ταχύτητα
Τουλάχιστον έξι μαθητές έχασαν τη ζωή τους και άλλα 17 τραυματίστηκαν όταν σχολικό λεωφορείοεξετράπη της πορείας του, προσέκρουσε σε δέντρο και ανατράπηκε σήμερα κοντά στην πόλη Κανίνα, στο κρατίδιο Χαριάνα της βόρειας Ινδίας.
Σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες του δικτύου NDTV, ο οδηγός του λεωφορείου οδηγούσε μεθυσμένος και είχε αναπτύξει υπερβολική ταχύτητα. Ο οδηγός επιχείρησε να διαφύγει, αλλά εντοπίστηκε από αστυνομικούς και συνελήφθη. Οι αρχές διαπίστωσαν επίσης ότι το πιστοποιητικό επαγγελματικής επάρκειας για την οδήγηση λεωφορείου είχε λήξει πριν από έξι χρόνια.
«Όλοι στην Κανίνα έχουν συγκλονιστεί εξαιτίας του θανάτου αθώων παιδιών. Κλείσαμε τα μαγαζιά μας σε ένδειξη πένθους, στον απόηχο αυτής της τραγωδίας», είπε ένας καταστηματάρχης στο πρακτορείο ειδήσεων Xinhua.
