Με νέα NAVTEX η Τουρκία προχώρησε σε δέσμευση περιοχών της Κύπρου για ασκήσεις.
Συγκεκριμένα, όπως μετέδωσε από τις Βρυξέλλες ο απεσταλμένος του sigmalive Γιάννος Χαραλαμπίδης, η NAVTEX με κωδικό 275/17 δεσμεύει περιοχές δυτικά της Πάφου, έκτασης 340 τετραγωνικών χιλιομέτρων, και βρίσκεται 6,7 χιλιόμετρα εκτός των χωρικών υδάτων της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας, αλλά εντός της κυπριακής ΑΟΖ, και μόλις 28 χιλιόμετρα ανοιχτά του λιμανιού της Πάφου.
Επιπλέον, καλύπτει μέρος του τεμαχίου 1 που Τουρκία και ψευδοκράτος αμφισβητούν ότι ανήκει στην Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία.
Η περιοχή είναι δεσμευμένη για ασκήσεις από τις 5 μέχρι τις 17 Μαρτίου. Υπενθυμίζεται πως την περασμένη εβδομάδα πηγές του υπουργείου Εθνικής Αμυνας της Ελλάδας ανέφεραν πως αναμένεται κλιμάκωση των τουρκικών προκλήσεων στα ανοιχτά της Κύπρου τον Ιούλιο, όταν η εταιρεία TOTAL θα διενεργήσει έρευνες για φυσικό αέριο στην περιοχή.
