Έκλεισε σήμερα προσωρινά ο σταθμός North Greenwich του υπόγειου σιδηρόδρομου του Λονδίνου και όπως ανακοίνωσε η υπηρεσία δημόσιων μεταφορών της πόλης ο λόγος ήταν ότι οι συρμοί ήταν υπερπλήρεις.
Η υπηρεσία έκανε την ανακοίνωση αυτή αφού οι επιβάτες που ανέμεναν στην αποβάθρα κλήθηκαν να αποχωρήσουν για άγνωστο λόγο, όπως εξηγεί το ΑΜΠΕ.
«Είναι μέτρο ελέγχου της υπερπληρότητας» δήλωσε μια εκπρόσωπος του Transport for London (TfL), του αρμόδιου δηλαδή φορέα για τις δημόσιες μεταφορές της βρετανικής πρωτεύουσας.
Το πρόβλημα προέκυψε όταν χάλασε ένας συρμός στον σταθμό του Canary Wharf με αποτέλεσμα να διακοπεί η κυκλοφορία στην γραμμή Jubilee του λονδρέζικου μετρό, η οποία συνδέει την χρηματοοικονομική περιοχή του Λονδίνου Canary Wharf με το κέντρο της πρωτεύουσας.
Σύμφωνα με την ίδια ανακοίνωση, η πρόσβαση στους σταθμούς του μετρό Canary Wharf και Waterloo – είναι και οι δύο σημαντικοί κόμβοι για τις μετακινήσεις των κατοίκων της πρωτεύουσας- ήταν επίσης περιορισμένη λόγω του συνωστισμού στους συρμούς.
