Το αστυνομικό τμήμα του Λος Άντζελες ανέλαβε δράση προκειμένου να καθησυχάσει τους κατοίκους με επίσημη ανακοίνωση: «Δεν έπεσε μετεωρίτης στο Ντάουνταουν του Λος Άντελες, και όχι, δεν πρόκειται ούτε για εξωγήινη εισβολή… είναι απλά τα γυρίσματα μιας ταινίας. Βρισκόμαι στο Χόλιγουντ εν τέλει».
