Ο ίδιος ο Μισέλ Μπαρνιέ, λαμβάνοντας τον λόγο υπογράμμισε ότι «έφτασε η ώρα της αλήθειας και της υπευθυνότητας» και έκρουσε τον κώδωνα του κινδύνου για το δημόσιο χρέος της χώρας λέγοντας χαρακτηριστικά πως η Γαλλία πληρώνει κάθε χρόνο 60 δισεκατομμύρια ευρώ για τόκους, δηλαδή περισσότερα από αυτά που ξοδεύει για την άμυνα και την παιδεία μαζί. «Θα ήθελα να είμαι σε θέση να ξοδέψω περισσότερα όμως η δημοσιονομική κατάσταση της χώρας δεν πρόκειται να εξαφανιστεί μετά την πρόταση μομφής» δήλωσε ο Μισέλ Μπαρνιέ.
Σε συνέχεια της σημερινής ψηφοφορίας ο Μισέλ Μπαρνιέ αναμένεται να υποβάλει την παραίτησή του στον πρόεδρο Μακρόν, ο οποίος έχει ήδη επιστρέψει στο Παρίσι μετά από την τριήμερη επίσημη επίσκεψη στην Σαουδική Αραβία. Δημοσιογραφικές πληροφορίες αναφέρουν ότι ο Γάλλος πρόεδρος σκοπεύει να ανακοινώσει τον αντικαταστάτη του Μισέλ Μπαρνιέ μέσα στις επόμενες 24 ώρες. Στην περίπτωση αυτή θα είναι ο τέταρτος κατά σειρά πρωθυπουργός που γνωρίζει η Γαλλία κατά το τρέχον έτος. Το μείζον ερώτημα είναι αν ο νέος πρωθυπουργός θα καταφέρει να έχει διαφορετική τύχη από αυτή του Μισέλ Μπαρνιέ και κυρίως αν θα είναι σε θέση η Γαλλία να έχει έτοιμο τον κρατικό προϋπολογισμό του 2025 πριν την εκπνοή του 2024.
