Οπλοφόρος άνοιξε πυρ χθες Τετάρτη στην Πενσυλβάνια εναντίον πέντε αστυνομικών, σκοτώνοντας τρεις και τραυματίζοντας άλλους δύο, προτού πέσει νεκρός, ανακοίνωσε ο επικεφαλής της αστυνομίας της πολιτείας των ανατολικών ΗΠΑ.
«Πέντε μέλη των δυνάμεων επιβολής της τάξης τραυματίστηκαν από πυρά (…) τρία θανάσιμα», είπε ο Κρίστοφερ Πάρις κατά τη διάρκεια συνέντευξης Τύπου που αναμεταδόθηκε απευθείας από τηλεοπτικούς σταθμούς.
Διευκρίνισε πως οι δύο αστυνομικοί που επέζησαν διακομίστηκαν σε νοσοκομείο και βρίσκονται σε «κρίσιμη αλλά σταθερή κατάσταση».
Ο δράστης χτυπήθηκε από πυρά των αστυνομικών και είναι επίσης νεκρός, συμπλήρωσε.
Το επεισόδιο εκτυλίχτηκε χθες μετά το μεσημέρι (τοπική ώρα) στην κοινότητα Κοντόρους, στην κομητεία της Υόρκης, περίπου 185 χιλιόμετρα δυτικά της Φιλαδέλφειας.
Οι αστυνομικοί είχαν πάει στην περιοχή στο πλαίσιο έρευνας για ενδοοικογενειακή βία όταν έγιναν στόχος πυρών.
Παρών στη συνέντευξη Τύπου, ο κυβερνήτης της πολιτείας Τζος Σαπίρο έκανε λόγο για «απόλυτα τραγική και συνταρακτική ημέρα για την κομητεία της Υόρκης και όλη την Πενσυλβάνια».
