Μία αβλεψία της τελευταίας στιγμής, προκάλεσε γκάφα κατά τη διάρκεια του τελετουργικού έπαρσης της Ολυμπιακής σημαίας κατά την έναρξη των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων στο Παρίσι.
Η Ολυμπιακή σημαία υψώθηκε από Γάλλους αξιωματικούς -όπως είχε γίνει και στην Αθήνα- αλλά όπως φάνηκε από τα τηλεοπτικά πλάνα, ήταν ανάποδα κρεμασμένη στον ιστό.

Ως γνωστό είναι τρεις κύκλοι από την πάνω πλευρά (μπλε, μαύρος, κόκκινος) και δύο από κάτω (κίτρινος, πράσινος). Αλλά όπως φάνηκε και στα τηλεοπτικά πλάνα, ήταν οι δύο κύκλοι από την πάνω πλευρά.
