Αναστάτωση προκλήθηκε το πρωί της Κυριακής σε πτήση της United Airlines από το Χιούστον προς τη Νέα Υόρκη, όταν το αεροσκάφος πήρε φωτιά κατά την απογείωση, με αποτέλεσμα να χρειαστεί άμεση εκκένωση.
Σύμφωνα με πλάνα που εξασφάλισε το Fox 26, ακούγονται έντρομοι επιβάτες να πανικοβάλλονται, ενώ φλόγες ξεπηδούσαν από ένα από τα φτερά του αεροσκάφους τη στιγμή που αυτό άρχιζε να επιταχύνει στον διάδρομο απογείωσης.
Η πτήση 1382 της United Airlines, ένα Airbus A320, ακύρωσε την απογείωσή της από το Διεθνές Αεροδρόμιο George Bush (IAH) στο Χιούστον του Τέξας λόγω «αναφερόμενου προβλήματος στον κινητήρα» λίγο μετά τις 8:30 π.μ., σύμφωνα με ανακοίνωση της Ομοσπονδιακής Υπηρεσίας Αεροπορίας (FAA).
Σύμφωνα με το FOX26 οι επιβάτες εγκατέλειψαν το αεροσκάφος στον διάδρομο και μεταφέρθηκαν στον τερματικό σταθμό με λεωφορεία, όπως πρόσθεσε η FAA.
Στο αεροσκάφος επέβαιναν 104 επιβάτεςκαι πέντε μέλη πληρώματος τη στιγμή του περιστατικού.
Η πτήση επαναπρογραμματίστηκε να απογειωθεί στις 12:30 μ.μ. τοπική ώρα.
Οι πυροσβέστες του Χιούστον συνέδραμαν στην εκκένωση των επιβατών, σύμφωνα με ανάρτηση της υπηρεσίας στην πλατφόρμα X. Δεν αναφέρθηκαν τραυματισμοί.
Όπως ανέφεραν αξιωματούχοι της πυροσβεστικής και εκπρόσωπος του αεροδρομίου IAH, οι πυροσβέστες δεν χρειάστηκε να κατασβέσουν φωτιά.
Η Ομοσπονδιακή Υπηρεσία Αεροπορίας διεξάγει έρευνα για το περιστατικό.
