Τουλάχιστον 19 άνθρωποι σκοτώθηκαν και δεκάδες άλλοι τραυματίστηκαν σε τροχαίο δυστύχημα με τουριστικό λεωφορείο στο κεντρικό Μεξικό την Παρασκευή.
Το τουριστικό λεωφορείο που κατευθυνόταν προς έναν θρησκευτικό χώρο στην Πολιτεία του Μεξικού μετά από πρόβλημα στα φρένα έπεσε πάνω σε ένα κτίριο, ανέφερε σε ανακοίνωσή του το Υπουργείο Υγείας της Πολιτείας του Μεξικού .
Οι αξιωματούχοι δήλωσαν ότι 19 άνθρωποι σκοτώθηκαν και 32 τραυματίστηκαν μετά τη συντριβή.
Έξι άνθρωποι, μεταξύ των οποίων δύο ανήλικοι, μεταφέρθηκαν με αεροπλάνο σε νοσοκομείο στην Τολούκα, ενώ άλλοι μεταφέρθηκαν σε πολλά νοσοκομεία της περιοχής, δήλωσαν αξιωματούχοι. Στους τραυματίες περιλαμβάνονται πολλές γυναίκες και παιδιά, σύμφωνα με το Υπουργείο Υγείας.
Αξιωματούχοι δήλωσαν ότι το λεωφορείο ήταν της τουριστικής εταιρείας «Turismo Tejeda» και είχε προορισμό το Santuario del Señor de Chalma, έναν χριστιανικό τόπο προσκυνήματος.
Τα θρησκευτικά προσκυνήματα είναι συνηθισμένα στο Μεξικό πριν από τις 12 Δεκεμβρίου, την ημέρα της Παναγίας της Γουαδελούπης.
