Σεισμική δόνηση 6,3 βαθμών σημειώθηκε σε θαλάσσια περιοχή στα ανοιχτά της Πολιτείας Τσιάπας του νότιου Μεξικού, ανακοίνωσε το αμερικανικό γεωδυναμικό ινστιτούτο (USGS).
Δεν υπάρχουν μέχρι στιγμής πληροφορίες για θύματα ή υλικές ζημιές εξαιτίας του σεισμού, ο οποίος σύμφωνα με το ινστιτούτο σημειώθηκε σε εστιακό βάθος 26 χιλιομέτρων και είχε επίκεντρο περιοχή σε απόσταση περίπου 120 χιλιομέτρων από την παραθαλάσσια περιοχή του δήμου της Σουτσιάτε.
Το Ευρωμεσογειακό Σεισμολογικό Κέντρο (EMSC) εκτίμησε νωρίτερα ότι ο σεισμός ήταν μεγέθους 6,2 βαθμών.
