Η αύξηση της δραστηριότητας του Ηφαιστείου Colima, το οποίο επίσης είναι γνωστό και ως «Ηφαίστειο της Φωτιάς» έχει δημιουργήσει σοβαρά προβλήματα σε μια ακτίνα 12 χιλιομέτρων. Η εκτόξευση μάγματος και αερίων έχει οδηγήσει τις αρχές στην απόφαση να προχωρήσουν στην απομάκρυνση από την περιοχή εκατοντάδων ανθρώπων.
Η έκρηξη που σημειώθηκε στο ηφαίστειο Colima στο Μεξικό την Παρασκευή ανάγκασε τους κατοίκους της γύρω περιοχής, μεταξύ των περιοχών Jalisco και Colima να εγκαταλείψουν τα σπίτια τους. Όπως αναφέρει το Reuters, περίπου 350 άνθρωποι από τις κοινότητες La Yerbabuena και La Becerra αναγκάστηκαν να εγκαταλείψουν τα σπίτια τους, οι οποίες έφτασε η βροχή από τέφρα που προκλήθηκε μετά την έκρηξη του Ηφαιστείου της Φωτιάς.
Η πολιτειακή κυβέρνηση της Colima δήλωσε ότι η αύξηση της ηφαιστειακής δραστηριότητας έχει επηρεάσει μια ακτίνα 12 χιλιομέτρων. Ως εκ τούτου, μονάδες της τοπικής Πολιτικής Προστασίας και του Συστήματος Εθνικής Προστασίας έχουν αναπτυχθεί για να βοηθήσουν τους κατοίκους στις ζώνες έκτακτης ανάγκης.
