Η οικογένεια μιας έφηβης «κοινωνικής πεταλούδας» που αρχικά παραπονέθηκε για πόνους στο στομάχι και αργότερα διαγνώστηκε με καρκίνο εβδομάδες πριν από τον θάνατό της, μίλησε για τον πόνο της καρδιάς της.
Η Kaya-Imaani Chambers, 18 ετών, επισκέφτηκε τον γιατρό της τον Φεβρουάριο παραπονούμενη για πόνο στο στομάχι και υποβλήθηκε σε εξετάσεις και επέστρεψε όταν εμφάνισε πόνους στα πλευρά, εξογκώματα στο λαιμό της καθώς και κρίσεις βήχα. Η Kaya, από τη Γλασκώβη, μεταφέρθηκε εσπευσμένα στο A&E τον Απρίλιο και της συνταγογραφήθηκε μια σειρά αντιβιοτικών δέκα εβδομάδων, καθώς οι γιατροί πίστευαν ότι είχε πέτρες στα νεφρά. Εβδομάδες αργότερα επέστρεψε στο νοσοκομείο με πρησμένο χέρι και περισσότερες εξετάσεις ανακάλυψαν τελικά ότι είχε καρκίνο.
