Truman – που επιχειρεί σήμερα στην Ερυθρά Θάλασσα – να παρατείνει την ανάπτυξή της κατά τουλάχιστον ένα μήνα, σύμφωνα με δύο αξιωματούχους του υπουργείου Άμυνας, οι οποίοι ζήτησαν ανωνυμία για να συζητήσουν τις τρέχουσες επιχειρήσεις.
Το USS Carl Vinson και τα αντιτορπιλικά που το συνοδεύουν θα ενταχθούν στο πλοίο ως συνοδευτικά μέσα στις επόμενες εβδομάδες. Το Vinson διεξάγει ασκήσεις στη Θάλασσα της Ανατολικής Κίνας με τους Ιάπωνες και τους Νοτιοκορεάτες.
Η άφιξη του Vinson θα σηματοδοτήσει τη δεύτερη φορά τους τελευταίους έξι μήνες που οι ΗΠΑ έχουν δύο ομάδες κρούσης αεροπλανοφόρων στη Μέση Ανατολή, αλλά την πρώτη υπό την κυβέρνηση Τραμπ.
