Η ΙΚΕΑ ανακοίνωσε ότι ανακαλεί 29 εκατομμύρια συρταριέρες μετά από τον θάνατο παιδιών.
Η ίδια η ΙΚΕΑ ανακοίνωσε την ανάκληση, τονίζοντας ότι θα γίνει επιστροφή χρημάτων σε όσους έχουν αγοράσει το προϊόν.
Ο λόγος είναι ότι τα εν λόγω προϊόντα μπορούν να πέσουν αν δεν στερεωθούν στον τοίχο, ενώ μέχρι σήμερα έχουν προκαλέσει τον θάνατο τουλάχιστον 3 παιδιών.
Μάλιστα, το ABC News ανεβάζει τον αριθμό των παιδιών που έχασαν τη ζωή τους στα 6. Σύμφωνα δε με δηλώσεις τόσο της ΙΚΕΑ όσο και της Επιτροπής Ασφαλείας Καταναλωτικών Προϊόντων στο ABC News, τουλάχιστον 36 παιδιά έχουν τραυματιστεί.
Πρόκειται για την σειρά Malm της ΙΚΕΑ. Το 2015 η εταιρεία είχε προσφέρει 300.000 κιτ επισκευής για να στερεωθεί το προϊόν στον τοίχο «είναι σαφές ότι υπάρχουν μη προστατευμένα προϊόντα στα σπίτια των καταναλωτών», δήλωσε η εταιρεία.
Η Επιτροπή Ασφαλείας Καταναλωτικών Προϊόντων είπε ότι πρόκειται να ανακοινώσει την Τρίτη μια πολύ μεγάλη ανάκληση προϊόντων από την ΙΚΕΑ λόγω ενός θανάσιμου κινδύνου, χωρίς ωστόσο να αναφέρει συγκεκριμένα το προϊόν.
