Σύμφωνα με δήλωση του Γάλλου υπουργού Αμύνης, Jean-Yves Le Drian,κατά την επίσκεψή του στη Γεωργία, σύντομα θα φτάσει στο Μπατούμ ένα γαλλικό πολεμικό πλοίο.
Μιλώντας σε συνέντευξη τύπου ο υπουργός ανέφερε ότι «Το κύριο μήνυμα της επίσκεψης μου είναι ότι σχεδιάζουμε να αυξήσουμε τον αριθμό των πλοίων μας στην Μαύρη Θάλασσα. Στο Μπατούμ θα αυξήσουμε τα πολεμικά πλοία, αυτό σημαίνει εμπιστοσύνη και μακρόχρονη εταιρική σχέση μεταξύ των δύο χωρών μας».
Στο ενδιάμεσο της επίσκεψης του στη χώρα και σε συζήτηση με τον γεωργιανό ομόλογό του, Λεβάν Izoria, τέθηκε το ζήτημα συνεργασίας μεταξύ Γαλλίας-Γεωργίας στους τομείς της αεροπορικής και της θαλάσσιας άμυνας.
