Με μια αιφνίδια απόφαση, η Ουγγαρία ανακοίνωσε ότι αναστέλλει προσωρινά τη συμμετοχή της στη συνθήκη της ΕΕ για το άσυλο, πιο γνωστή ως «Δουβλίνο 2».
Η κυβέρνηση του Βίκτορ Ορμπάν υποστηρίζει ότι δεν έχει πλέον τη δυνατότητα φιλοξενίας άλλων μεταναστών. Υπόσχεται αορίστως, ότι θα επανέλθει στην εφαρμογή της ευρωπαϊκής συμφωνίας όταν θα έχει εκ νέου τη δυνατότητα φιλοξενίας επιπλέον μεταναστών και προσφύγων.
Με την απόφαση της αυτή, η Ουγγαρία δεν θα δέχεται τον επαναπατρισμό προσφύγων και μεταναστών από άλλες χώρες της Ε.Ε., εάν αποδειχθεί ότι η Ουγγαρία ήταν η πρώτη χώρα της Ένωσης στην οποία εισήλθαν οι αιτούμενοι ασύλου.
Εξηγήσεις ζητά η ΕΕ
Η απόφαση προκάλεσε την έντονη δυσφορία της Ε.Ε. η οποία ζητά εξηγήσεις από την Ουγγαρία. Όπως ανακοίνωσε η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή, η ουγγρική κυβέρνηση είπε στα άλλα κράτη ότι η αναστολή γίνεται για «τεχνικούς λόγους». Σύμφωνα με την Κομισιόν, η Ε.Ε. θέλει να ξέρει σε τι ενέργειες προβαίνει η Βουδαπέστη προκειμένου να επιλυθεί το πρόβλημα.
