Ford Carrier Strike Group (GRFCSG) in the Atlantic Ocean, Oct. 9, 2022. The Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group is deployed in the Atlantic Ocean, conducting training and operations alongside NATO Allies and partners to enhance integration for future operations and demonstrate the U.S. Navy's commitment to a peaceful, stable and conflict-free Atlantic region. Νέο βίντεο το οποίο φέρεται ότι δείχνει σοβαρές ζημιές στο εσωτερικό του αεροπλανοφόρου USS Gerald Ford μετά από «πυρκαγιά σε δωμάτιο πλυντηρίου» που έλαβε χώρα στην Ερυθρά Θάλασσα κατά τη διάρκεια της επιχείρησης Epic Fury, είδε το φως της δημοσιότητας.
Σημειώνεται ότι το USS Gerald Ford μετά τις ζημιές που υπέστη μετέβη πρώτα στην βάση της Σούδας στην Κρήτη και εν συνεχεία στην Κροατία.
Η φωτιά που του προκάλεσε τις μεγάλες αυτές καταστροφές οι οποίες για να αποκατασταθούν θα χρειαστούν πολύμηνες επισκευές, σύμφωνα με το επίσημο αφήγημα, ξεκίνησε από Αμερικανούς ναύτες.
Ωστόσο υπάρχουν ανεπιβεβαίωτες αναφορές πως το αεροπλανοφόρο δέχτηκε πλήγματα στην Ερυθρά Θάλασσα από τους σιίτες Χούθι.
Το αεροπλανοφόρο κατευθύνονταν προς της Αραβική Θάλασσα για να ενισχύσει το USS Abraham Lincoln.
Σημειώνεται ότι η πυρκαγιά ξέσπασε στις 12 Μαρτίου και χρειάστηκαν 10 ώρες για να σβήσει ενώ τουλάχιστον 200 ναύτες απέκτησαν σοβαρά αναπνευστικά προβλήματα.
