Δεν είναι καθόλου καλή και η ασύλληπτη καταστροφή στον Θεσσαλικό κάμπο δυσκολεύει ακόμη περισσότερο την κατάσταση. Η οικονομική κρίση προκάλεσε όπως αναμενόταν βαθιά κοινωνική κρίση. Ένα από τα χαρακτηριστικά της είναι και η απαξίωση με την οποία οι πολίτες αντιμετωπίζουν τα κοινά. Απεχθάνονται να συμμετέχουν σε αυτά ενεργά και αυτό είναι άκρως επικίνδυνο. Ο κ.Στραβελάκης αν και δεν έχει κανέναν προφανή λόγο αποφάσισε να εμπλακεί με τα κοινά και συμμετέχει στις δημοτικές εκλογές στο δήμο Αθηναίων με τον συνδυασμό του Κώστα Παπαδάκη ,την Ανατρεπτική Συμμαχία για την Αθήνα. Εξηγεί γιατί αποφάσισε να εγκαταλείψει την «ασφάλεια» της καθημερινότητας και να προσπαθήσει για την ανατροπή σε μία πόλη που σίγουρα την χρειάζεται…
