Μετά την κλιμάκωση της έντασης στην περιοχή της Μέσης Ανατολής με τη δολοφονία του υπαρχηγού της Χαμάς, το υπουργείο Εξωτερικών της Γερμανίας προέτρεψε τους Γερμανούς πολίτες να φύγουν αμέσως από τον Λίβανο.
«Δεν μπορούν να αποκλειστούν μια νέα επιδείνωση της κατάστασης και μια παράταση της σύγκρουσης, κυρίως μετά τη δολοφονία του αντιπροέδρου του Πολιτικού Γραφείου της Χαμάς, του Σάλεχ Αλ Αρούρι, στην περιοχή της Βηρυτού στις 2 Ιανουαρίου 2024. Αυτό ισχύει ιδίως για το νότιο τμήμα του Λιβάνου, συμπεριλαμβανομένων και των αστικών ζωνών στα νότια της Βηρυτού» αναφέρει το υπουργείο στον ιστότοπό του.
Η κατάσταση, όσον αφορά την ασφάλεια στην περιοχή, είναι «πολύ ρευστή», τόνισε το υπουργείο Εξωτερικών, καλώντας τους Γερμανούς πολίτες να φύγουν από τη χώρα «με τα γρηγορότερα μέσα».
Ο Σάλεχ αλ Αρούρι και άλλα έξι στελέχη της Χαμάς σκοτώθηκαν από πλήγμα που αποδίδεται στο Ιραήλ το βράδυ της Τρίτης. Η Γερμανία είχε ήδη προειδοποιήσει από τον Οκτώβριο τους πολίτες της να μην ταξιδεύουν στον Λίβανο, αφότου ξέσπασε ο πόλεμος μεταξύ του Ισραήλ και της Χαμάς.
