Σε εξέλιξη βρίσκεται πυρκαγιά που ξέσπασε σε δασική έκταση στην περιοχή Πηγές Γριάς Βάθρας Πρίνος Σαμοθράκης. Σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες του in η φωτιά ξεκίνησε βραδινές ώρες σε ορεινή περιοχή με πλούσια βλάστηση.
Για την κατάσβεση της φωτιάς κινητοποιήθηκαν επίγειες και εναέριες δυνάμεις της Πυροσβεστικής. Ωστόσο δύσκολα μπορούν οι επίγειες δυνάμεις να προσεγγίσουν το σημείο, ενώ όπως αναφέρουν οι κάτοικοι έχει έρθει μόλις ένα ελικόπτερο.
Η περιοχή που έχει ξεσπάσει η φωτιά είναι μοναδικής ομορφιάς, με αιωνόβιες βελανιδιές οι οποίες κινδυνεύουν να παραδοθούν στις φλόγες. Η δυσκολία προσέγγισης στο σημείο, καθώς και το γεγονός ότι είναι αδύνατο να φτάσουν πυροσβεστικά οχήματα, προκαλεί ανησυχία για το πού και πώς θα σταματήσει η πυρκαγιά. Ενδεικτικό είναι ότι ο καπνός από τη φωτιά έχει πνίξει όλο το νησί.
Με ανάρτησή του ο δήμαρχος του νησιού, Νίκος Γαλατούμος σημειώνει ότι αναμένονται ενισχύσεις σε εναέρια μέσα και πεζοπόρο τμήμα από την Αλεξανδρούπολη.
