Αίτηση για πτώχευση κατέθεσε μεγάλη εταιρεία καλλυντικών, Revlon Inc καθώς τα τελευταία χρόνια φαίνεται δυσκολεύεται να ανταγωνιστεί τα πρωτοποριακές εταιρείες που εστιάζουν στις πωλήσεις online.
Η εταιρεία που μετρά 90 χρόνια παρουσίας ξεκίνησε να πουλά βερνίκια νυχιών στη δίνη της Μεγάλης Ύφεσης και αργότερα πρόσθεσε κραγιόν στη συλλογή της. Μέχρι το 1955, η μάρκα ήταν διεθνής.
Η Revlon κατέχει περιουσιακά στοιχεία και υποχρεώσεις μεταξύ 1 δισ. και 10 δισ. δολαρίων, σύμφωνα με την αίτηση στο Πτωχευτικό Δικαστήριο των ΗΠΑ για τη Νότια Περιφέρεια της Νέας Υόρκης.
Οι πωλήσεις της Revlon αντιμετώπιζαν δυσκολίες εξαιτίας των προβλημάτων εφοδιασμού και μιας αποτυχημένης απόπειρας να στραφεί σε προϊόντα περιποίησης τα οποία έχουν ζήτηση.
Την ίδια ώρα, φαίνεται πως έχανε χώρο στα ράφια από εταιρείες όπως η Kylie Cosmetics και η Fenty Beauty by Rihanna, που στηρίζονται από inflυencers.
Χαρακτηριστικά, τα χρέη της Revlon ανέρχονταν στις 31 Μαρτίου στα 3,31 δισ. δολάρια.
