Πέρα από το ύποπτο κρούσμα ευλογιάς των πιθήκων που βρίσκεται αυτή τη στιγμή στο νοσοκομείο «Αττικόν», στον ίδιο χώρο νοσηλεύεται και ένα κρούσμα λέπρας, όπως αποκάλυψε το πρωί της Κυριακής ο καθηγητής Μικροβιολογίας, Σπυρίδων Πουρνάρας.
Συγκεκριμένα, ο καθηγητής είπε στο Open ότι πρόκειται για άτομο που «είναι από την Πελοπόννησο».
«Είχαμε βρει και πρόπερσι τέτοιο κρούσμα. Υπάρχουν λίγα σποραδικά κρούσματα παλιών ασθενειών. Πρέπει να είμαστε σε επαγρύπνηση για να μην διασπαρούν», ανέφερε ο κ. Πουρνάρας.

Πριν μερικά χρόνια στην Πάτρα μία ολόκληρη φαμίλια αλβανών κλεφτοκοτάδων είχε λέπρα και αυτό ήταν τότε το πρώτο κρούσμα λέπρας στην Ελλάδα μετά από δεκαετίες.Παρεμπιπτόντως στο αλμπάνια κυκλοφορεί μέχρι και χολέρα(εκτός από ναρκωτικά).
