Ο Φινλανδός πρόεδρος Σάουλι Νιινίστε και αναμένεται να ανακοινώσει σήμερα επίσημα τη θέση του για την πιθανή υποψηφιότητα της χώρας του προς ένταξη στο ΝΑΤΟ, όπως και η πρωθυπουργός Σάνα Μαρίν.
Η ανακοίνωσή τους αναμένεται να είναι κοινή και θα γίνει περί τις 10:00 (τοπική ώρα και ώρα Ελλάδας), σύμφωνα με την προεδρία. Αναλυτές προεξοφλούν πως θα είναι υπέρ της ένταξης στο NATO.

Ο κ. Νιινίστε, τακτικός συνομιλητής του Ρώσου προέδρου Βλαντίμιρ Πούτιν τα τελευταία χρόνια, όπως και η σοσιαλδημοκράτισσα κυρία Μαρίν, έχουν ήδη καταστήσει σαφές πως η Φινλανδία αποφάσισε να ενταχθεί στην Ατλαντική Συμμαχία μετά την εισβολή της Ρωσίας στην Ουκρανία. Η ένταξή της, όπως και αυτή της Σουηδίας, που επίσης αναμένεται να υποβάλει αίτημα ένταξης, θεωρείται ότι θα γίνει μέσα στο καλοκαίρι.
