Ηλεκτρονικό δέρμα-οθόνη μετρά και δείχνει το επίπεδο του οξυγόνου στο σώμα
Επιστήμονες στην Ιαπωνία δημιούργησαν ένα πολύ λεπτό και εύκαμπτο ηλεκτρονικό «δέρμα», το οποίο, όταν προσαρμόζεται στο σώμα, μπορεί να μετρήσει το επίπεδο του οξυγόνου στο αίμα και να το δείξει αλλάζοντας απόχρωση.
Το «δέρμα» από πολυμερή υλικά, το οποίο είναι μια ψηφιακή οθόνη OLED (οργανική φωτοδίοδος) με πάχος περίπου δύο μικρόμετρα (εκατομμυριοστά του μέτρου), διαθέτει μικρο-ηλεκτρονικούς αισθητήρες και χρωματίζεται με διάφορα χρώματα (κόκκινο, μπλε, πράσινο) ανάλογα με το επίπεδο του οξυγόνου.
Μια μελλοντική χρήσιμη εφαρμογή του ηλεκτρονικού δέρματος θα είναι να παρακολουθεί το επίπεδο του οξυγόνου στα διάφορα όργανα στη διάρκεια χειρουργικών επεμβάσεων, καθώς και για άλλες βιοιατρικές εφαρμογές.
